I have built numerous solo canoes and typically sell them right underneath me, so to speak, with folks making an offer on what I'm currently paddling. On the up side it has allowed me to experiment with a variety of shapes and configurations. There is a lot to be said about the practical hands-on implications of design and trial. It has been said more than once that there is no perfect canoe and I have to agree. Sometimes folks can not find what they want off the shelf and that's when it is useful to have a craft designed for you.
Strong Durable Finish for Years of Carefree Use
You won't need to varnish these boats. I typically use an acrylic urethane finish in clear or paint. If you prefer varnish, I'll can finish your boat with varnish. Several of my boats finished this way five years ago still look beautiful and haven't had to be re-varnished once.
