Evaluating Plans
The above image is a reduced screen capture of the plans database. Essential dimensions are searchabale and provided, specific hydrodynamic information is also furnished. I can email you selected PDF or JPEG images of designs you may be considering.

I don't claim my designs are better, the ultimate or the best. I don't choose to make any comparison to to the competition. I can say with pride that they are simply different. After reading many, many boat design and building books, hundreds of web pages I have learned there are so many variables that there is no ideal. Simply stated, the ideal boat is the one that makes you happy and performs as desired.

What is ideal for one person may not work for another. That said, there are similar categories of people with comparable needs. I can help you wade through the hype and may even suggest a competitor's plan if you feel better about it. My desire is to help help narrow the range of ideal solutions and put you in a wood boat you will treasure..

About Eskimo Tom Plans
I currently have over 70 stitch and glue canoe and kayak designs ready to go. I can send them out in in PDF's and in many cases CAD ready files. If you want hard copies, I charge extra for the trip to the print shop, tube and postage. The largest number of my customers ask for some customization and I don't mind a bit making those changes. All I ask is a slight surcharge and a little time to make those modifications. It's a small price to get something made especially for you.

In the mean time if you have any questions about the plans or would like a custom set of stitch and glue plans created for you don't hesitate to call or email me.

How the Service Works
I
Generally we talk or email and you describe what you have in mind. I ask questions and will get you a few prospective study plans. These are screen captures off the database and list key dimensions and relevant hydrostatic data. The images provide you an opportunity to study and review the plans which show the three primary views: plan, profile and body. I include relevant dimensions so you can decide which changes are required. I create a plan which can go back and forth a few times for modification. Once we are close to the final design, I can provide you more detailed hydrostatic calculations.

Where needed I provide full dimensions for instance bulkheads:

Form Alignment
I am currently in the process of "porting" many of my stitch and glue designs to software capable of creating continuous curve forms for cedar wood strip construction.

Have old boat plans? I collect used boat plans and buy used books which include boat plans and boat building. I am looking for the Motor Boating "Ideal Series" as well as completing my collection of the Popular Mechanix/Fawcett Publications "How To Build 20 Boats" Series.

I do not condone the activities of those people who scan these resources and sell them as CD's on eBay. These people lack imagination and I question their lack of motivation. They are characters, so I don't question their character.
