Julie in 14 foot hard chine kayak

From Julie Voit Yap:
I’ve known Tom for several years and watched him build most of the first two kayaks that he made for himself. I was so impressed with the beauty and grace of these boats that I just couldn't wait to paddle one.

As soon as I tried it, I just had to have one!

I wanted a boat that I could handle myself, so size and weight were very important. Tom was able to customize a boat to fit my needs by taking an existing design and making it a bit shorter to save on weight.

He was also able to make the cockpit a bit wider to make it easier for me to get in and out. Since I knew that I would’t be using it for camping, we were able to leave out the hatches giving the decks a clean look.

The end result was a beautiful, lightweight and maneuverable boat that’s easily handled by a short chubby old grandma! It never fails that when I have the kayak on top of my truck, people will roll down their windows and comment on my uniquely beautiful boat at almost every stoplight.

I’m looking forward to traveling with my boat this summer to show it off to people all over the country.

Julie is one of the many people I thank for believing in me, providing encouragement and support to continue to build boats for folks.

Money can't buy happiness, but it can get you a pretty decent boat!
